Fun With Toys In the Parking Lot 1958

Three slides of a brother and sister having fun with their new toys in the parking lots at Disneyland. There were no other slides of Disneyland, just these three of the kids in Disneyland. The brother is holding a great toy car about the size of a promotional car model, and the girl is holding a Sleeping Beauty Castle brochure and a toy called Loony Kins that was made by Hasbro. Of course both are wearing souvenir Mickey Mouse ears.

Souvenir Friday- 1965 Carnation Menu

Carnation Cafe was one of the original restaurants on Main Street. Although no longer a sponsor, the Cafe lives on in name and is actually moving back into the space it once occupied. The restaurant was a sit down ice cream parlor and had lovely menus. This menu has a 1955 copyright but then inside is a date code for 11-65. There is some great names and ice cream deserts themed to the attractions and lands of Disneyland. The front cover also features less detailed pre opening renderings of the ice cream parlor.

Repairing The Monorail 1963

A great image from 1963 featuring the crew working on the Monorail. The location is the old Monorail round house. It appears they are working on the wheels and trolley of the vehicle. I like the couple pieces of wood used to block the vehicle.

Honored Guests

One of the more unusual and plain Photo Gallery frame is this one just featuring the classic Disneyland D and Honored Guests. Based upon the clothing, the time period is mid to late 1960s. Unfortunately no folder for this souvenir picture.

Making Memories on Main Street

Three lovely images of kids on Main Street posing with characters. First up are two images of Mickey with each daughter. Today there would be a definitely crowd around the character. The Coke cup is nice although generic to Coke and is not specific to a restaurant.

My favorite image is of the Dapper Dan's posing on their custom bike built for four. I love that the Dan's have put their hats on each of the kids. Also I am sure you will all notice the Hills Brothers Coffee House in the background with the great sign on the building.

Mysterious Locations in Southern California Amusement Parks

Two great images of locations that are mysterious looking...jungles filled with strange rock formations or strange animals. First up is a view of the long lost and missed Skull Rock. Once part of the theming for the Chicken of the Sea Pirate ship and a tie to Peter Pan, the rock was demolished as part of the 1983 New Fantasyland rebuild.

The next image is from either the LA or San Diego Zoo. I love the outrigger canoe for the monkeys to play on while the alligator sleeps peacefully.

Monorail Technical Photographs- Part 2

More technical photographs. I am sure I am boring all of you with these images. But I think they are cool and unusual. Now if I could just figure out what the item is?

Monorail Technical Photographs- Part 1

From the final Seattle World's Fair photographs are these pictures of equipment, wheels and other technical pieces of the Alweg Monorail in use at the Fair. I have been trying to figure out what the piece of equipment is...I am thinking that it may be a door closer but I am not sure. There are three more photographs featuring the equipment.

Souvenir Friday- Souvenir Disneyland Coins

Two rare coins related to Disneyland. First up is a coin that was given away at events at Grocery Stores promoting Chicken of the Sea Tuna and Disneyland. This coin is seen in a rare promotional handbook for Pirate Ship Days for Chicken of the Sea Tuna in 1955. This is the only one I have seen.

The next coin is from the Pieces of 8 Shop in New Orleans Square. I would assume this was from the opening of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, but may have even been available prior to the opening. It is a rather heavy coin.

Monorails at Seattle Part 2

Some more technical pictures of the Seattle Monorails. First up one of the cars in the station. Not as pretty as the Disneyland Monorails, but still a nice look.

A view of the truck and drive system for the Monorail. This is an image with the skirt removed and shows the way the bogie is attached and runs against the rail.

Final image is of the driver's seat and controls.

Monorails at Seattle Part 1

One of the main reasons the Disneyland employee was at the Seattle World's Fair was to document the Monorail built by Alweg that went through the city of Seattle. First up is a view of the Monorail station.

Next up is a shot of the beamway going through the city.

Final image is a shot of the steel beamway in the city.

Seattle World's Fair Construction Part 3

Some more views of the construction for the Seattle World's Fair. First up another view of the stadium. I believe they raced motor boats in the trough that is under construction.

Next is a view of the fun zone with the brightly colored poles.

A close up shot of one of the ticket booths. Check out the prices.

Seattle World's Fair Skyway

Three images of the Skyway vehicles used at the Seattle World's Fair. These were taken by a Disneyland employee who was on site during construction to look at the attractions including the Skyway and Monorail. Note the vehicles were fully enclosed due to the potential weather concerns in Seattle, even during summer.

Seattle World's Fair Construction Part 2

More construction images from the Century 21 Exposition. First up is a shot of the United Science Exhibit. I love the arches used for the Fair.

The next two snapshots are of the stadium built on the Fair grounds. This stadium is still used to this day for football games and other events.

Seattle World's Fair Construction Part 1

From the Seattle World's Fair in 1962, known as the Century 21 Exposition, are these snapshots of the site under construction. These are all from the fun zone. First up a neat image of Autopia style cars ready for the crowds.

Next up is a shot of one of the carnival style rides being set up.

Another view of a scrambler type ride. I like all the hearts in the background.

Souvenir Friday- Pacific Ocean Park Souvenir Bag and Postcard

For souvenir Friday, a small souvenir bag that once held postcards. I like the graphics on the bag with a nice seahorse and the unique POP font.

Here is an example of a postcard which may have been sold in this bag. A nice rendering of the park as seen from the air.

Sorority Visit to A Wet Disneyland 1963

Three snapshots of what appears to be a sorority visiting Disneyland. It looks like it was a wet and rainy day...with the ladies wearing overcoats. First up a large group pose in front of the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship. Check out those great sunglasses.

Prior to smoking areas, you could just sit down and smoke a cigarette.

Last image is of the ladies being devoured by Monstro the Whale.

Disneyland Ambassador Sally Sherbin and Friends

A nice publicity photograph of 1968's Disneyland Sally Sherbin and King Louis the Ape and Baloo the Bear. The publicity tag on the reverse reads: Touring California--Disneyland's pretty 1968 Ambassador Sally Sherbin and her friends King Louis the Ape and Baloo the boisterous Bear, are off on a swinging tour of California in connection with Disneyland's annual "Fantasy on Parade." They will appear at__________________ on December_____________ at _____________.

World's Fair Wednesdays-New York June 1964

Four snap shots from a June 1964 visit to the World's Fair in New York City. The family had a couple of cameras with them, one shooting black and white and one shooting color film. First up is an image of the Schaeffer Center, sponsored by Schaeffer Beer, a New York Brewery.

Next up a night shot of the Avis Car Rental car ride. I believe this is still in existence at the Centreville park in Toronto Canada.

Next up is an action shot from the African Pavilion. I like the large dolls.

The best image from the batch is important to Disney fans, an interior shot of the Carousel of Progress final act. I like that there is a cat sitting on the couch. You can also see that they reworked Father a bit before premiering at Disneyland.
