Old Tomorrowland was so cool. First up are the Flying Saucers, a ride that I miss even though I never was able to ride the attraction.
And to top of the coolness factor is this image of Mr. and Ms. Tomorrowland. I know why Mr. Tomorrowland is a happy man!
Two gems from the past. Very, very nice.
ReplyDeleteOne of the regrets of my early visit to the park was passing on riding the UFO's and running off to some other line. I too, never rode them.
My brother swears that he and I rode the Flying Saucers, but I sure don't remember it. Of course, it was removed when I was about 4 years old!
ReplyDeleteAny date on these? The saucers was one of my favorites. Would wait up to 45 minutes for a 90 second ride! I've never experienced a ride similar to this. It was low capacity and frequently down, so it makes sense that it isn't there today. Glad I was one of the lucky ones.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Flying Saucers!!! I always ran to that attraction FIRST and luckily I was able to ride it several times. Of course, several times I'd run up only to find the attraction was down for the day. I can hardly wait for Luigi's Tires in Carsland!
ReplyDeleteFantastic post and love the one of the "future couple". You always have awesome material, Matterhorn...thank you for sharing this stuff!
ReplyDeleteAnd forgive me, just a brief plug here, as I have a newly started up blog of scans of vintage Disneyland material from my own collection. Greatly appreciated if you felt like coming by to check it out as you will, and sorry for the blatant promotion heh. Site is here: http://dlandephemera.blogspot.com/
You know the saucers are coming back right? Well sorta. In the new Cars Land at DCA they have reivented the ride as Luigi's Tire Ride. Coming 2012. I will be covering the grand opening (and all the behind the scenes till then on my site)
