More images of the signs surrounding and advertising the Enchanted Tiki Room. This sign once hung at the exit area, alerting the curious the way to the entrance. There must have been quite a stir when the Tiki Room opened and crowds everywhere needing directions to experience the new sensation.
The true entrance sign to the Tiki Room. A similar sign is still over the threshold.
A final Enchanted Tiki Garden sign.

This attraction must hold some kind of record for having the most signage!!
Did they ever do a television episode about the Tiki Room when it opened?
I've really enjoyed your Tiki Room posts!
The pre-show area might just be my favorite part of the whole attraction...
Thanks for all the work you've put in to keep this going---THANKS---
dole whips... mmmmm
All the bird calls for the Tiki Room attractions were done by A. Purves Pullen (who got "Dr. Horatio Q. Birdbath" as his stage name when he joined the Spike Jones comedy band). Doc Birdbath was a champion whistler and animal-mimic, who also did bird- and animal-calls in Disney cartoons through the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. You can hear him as Pluto and various other dogs in Pluto cartoons like "Society Dog Show".
I was penpals with Doc during the 1990s, and we'd exchange "talking letters" recorded on cassette tapes, so I'd know his barks and tweets anywhere!
My family and I were friends with Doc Birdbath and remained so until his death My mom was a whistler and we lived in Sacramento Ca not far from Doc Toward the end he had a gig at The Nut Tree and would walk around the park with his invisible dog and entertain the children which was his favorite thing to do
Do you still have those tapes and letters! Trying to get a spot dedicated to him at the Vacaville Museum. Chris Reed 7073178035
