One of the souvenirs that was sold there was this Mexican sombrero shaped ashtray. The ashtray does come in a couple of colors, having owned a yellow one in addition to this green one. All have the Mexican painting of cacti on them. The name on the brim is part of the ceramic design as is the Walt Disney Productions on the bottom. I have seen other sombrero's marked for hotels in Baja California and Mexico.
Fun souvenir! Love these relics from early Disneyland. This does look like the kind of thing you could have bought in Tijuana (except that it has the Disneyland imprint on it that makes it extra cool)!
ReplyDeletethat's incredible!!!!!!!!!!! in all our toy years, i've never seen one and it's one of the few disneyland items i'd keep....
ReplyDeleteThe green sombrero ashtray you have posted is cool. I never seen one. I have a tan colored one with the same words but different artwork. Mine has what looks like an indian kneeling in front of a different cactus. My sombrero ashtray is slightly different in shape (the cone of the hat looks to be shorter and wider on mine). Obviously handmade!
