I love these shots showing two boys and stylish mom standing in the parking lot of the Disneyland Hotel showing off their bottles of Soft Drinks as if they were expensive wine. The family is quite stylish with the suspenders on the youngest and a button up sweater on the older. The top photo does show the old Disneyland Hotel Tram with its great 1950s World's Fair Styling in the background. The new trams are nice but not quite as stylish as the old trams. The final shot shows the family waving to the brave Monorail Pilot as he rounds the corner. Life was so much easier back in the early 1960s!
I never thought about it, but the old trams did look very similar to the ones used at World's Fairs going all the way back to 1933.
ReplyDeleteThe new ones look kind of lame in my opinion...but what do I know, my 8 year-old niece thought they were "cool"!
Best thing about these is the strange framing of the Matterhorn between the two kids. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThe cat-eye glasses are classic!
ReplyDeleteAh, the days when you would only ever approach the Disneyland Hotel from either the parking lot exit, or from the south off of Katella - no need to put any lettering on the north side of that big sign!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are so great! I wish they were in color, because I like to imagine that Mom's sweater is bright orange to match her "sliced citrus" skirt. When vacationing in Orange County, it's always best to stick with a theme...
