Coke Corner Disneyland 1960s
Just a nice shot of the Coke Corner at Main Street in Disneyland in the 1960s. The restaurant has not changed much since this photo was shot. Some things at Disneyland should be like that.
HUGE FIGHTS!!! We used to call them “The Shoe vs. The Corner.” We served box lunches… but I digress.
Coke Corner used to house some wonderful Coke memorabilia like turn of the century coke bottles. I don’t know if they still have those displays but next time we are there, we should all stop in and check it out.
Finally, one of my favorite stories is during the Cast Member Christmas Party we could always find Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg working at Coke Corner, serving hot dogs and “The Pause That Refreshes.” I remember I was the Working Lead on the Jungle Cruise one such night when a kid walked over behind the Lead’s desk and puked. One of the guys working the attraction from WDI said, “Oh look! That kid just tossed an Eisner dog!” Very proud moment for me… I still weep when recalling the story.
I think the sports leagues also had very intense games between the two. But it is my understanding the most hated was Sunkist as the manager would recruit the best players to work for him so they could win the Softball and Basketball leagues!
I'm not sure I've ever set foot in the Coke Corner...the shame! We're always in such a hurry.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Coke employees went over and had fights with the Pepsi people at the Golden Horseshoe.
