August 3, 1967 was a lovely Thursday with a high of 82 and a low of 66 and Disneyland opened at 9AM and closed at 12AM. The photographer took a lovely cruise on the Rivers of America and snapped these two images of a Mine Train passing by the Three Sisters Falls coming down Cascade Peak. I really do miss the wonderful understated attraction and the lovely yellow trains.
I know there are a lot of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad fans out there, but for me it never matched the joys I got out of riding through Nature's Wonderland aboard the Mine Train or Pack Mules.
ReplyDeleteThat ride is still one of my favorites. I'm not sure why but it was a 'must ride' when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteThere was no "Three Sisters" falls on Cascade Peak; there were two waterfalls. The larger one was called Big Thunder, and the other, which split into two, was named the Twin Sisters, because - as the ride narration explained - "... they're always babbling".
