One of the main reasons for my trip to California was to pick this guy up and bring him home to the collection. The bird is one of the vultures who used to watch Jungle Cruise skippers and guests pass under him. The vulture was installed in the Jungle River Cruise from 1955 until about 1961. He was then removed and used as the model to cast the body and details for the vultures seen on the jungle plain. A great addition to the collection and he will fit in well in the Halloween room.
Wow, that's an outstanding piece, Patrick!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! And from my favorite Disneyland attraction. How did you come upon that? Do you know whereabouts he was on the Jungle Cruise?
ReplyDeleteHa ha, your wife must be thrilled! ;-)
ReplyDeleteKidding, it's an awesome piece; I wish we could find a vintage photo with the vulture in the park.
