Two rare coins related to Disneyland. First up is a coin that was given away at events at Grocery Stores promoting Chicken of the Sea Tuna and Disneyland. This coin is seen in a rare promotional handbook for Pirate Ship Days for Chicken of the Sea Tuna in 1955. This is the only one I have seen.
The next coin is from the Pieces of 8 Shop in New Orleans Square. I would assume this was from the opening of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, but may have even been available prior to the opening. It is a rather heavy coin.
WOW!!! Oh my gosh, I have never seen these before!
ReplyDeleteI got a brass coin from Las Vegas once with a picture of a lady on it... but I think she was selling something different.
ReplyDeleteZowie! I especially love that Chicken of the Sea coin.
ReplyDeleteI think I was with you when you found the COTS coin! San Francisco? Very cool item!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Disney-related souvenir coins and medallions. These are truly awesome. Thanks for sharing your pics.
ReplyDeleteJed,
ReplyDeleteYes you were with me....San Francisco it was.
