Two views from the Mad Tea Party. First is what at first glance is a ho-hum and common picture of the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship in Fantasyland as seen from the Tea cups. A quick and closer look shows scaffolding and workers busy painting and finishing the ship. In the background is a construction truck.
Next up is a nice view of the tea cups being loaded. Check out the Peter Pan attraction facade in the background.
Oooh, I am loving this series! Notice that there are NO guests on the pirate ship?
ReplyDeleteNONE of the photos in this bunch are "ho hum"! I think the Pirate Ship didn't open until near the end of August 1955, which would mean that your photos were taken within the first month of Disneyland's opening.
ReplyDeleteThose pointy souvenir hats are ridiiiiculous!
ReplyDeleteWow, the mermaid isn't even on the bow of the ship yet!
ReplyDeleteI always hated that fence around the teacups. It looks so cheap and sleazy. Shows the need to finish within budget.
ReplyDeleteNotice how the scalloped design has all the points facing up to discourage climbing and sitting on the fence? Maximum effect for minimum cost and still looks festive, if you don't look to closely.
Wonderful pics.
