Things From the Gate- Circa Late 1957 Advertising Brochure

The cover has now turned blue and new interior images have been added. The Viewliner is a spectacular shot.

  1. I love that Viewliner shot, it doesn't appear to be taken from the Skyway - a crane shot maybe??? Awesome brochure - thanks!

According to an August 1957 Sunset magazine article (in my post today) Disneyland may resume a 6-day week In September - looks like its turned into a 5-day week!

  2. VDT: Could it be taken from the top of Snow Hill?

  3. Yes, I agree that Snow Hill is the answer to the Viewliner mystery! These brochures are neat, but hard to find without a fold (or two)!

  4. Great, I'll use the general guidance on hours to fill in all those missing dates from the 1980s!

  5. Thanks for posting this! I was doing some research with the help of a couple Disney arm-chair historians and we've come to the conclusion that this was from Summer 1958.

With information gathered regarding Admission prices in from 1956-1958 when the Fed Tax was repealed, and prices in Summer 1958, I'm going with this Information brochure being from Summer 1958. Seeing the Viewliner (1957) and then Columbia and Alice mentioned in the text (July 1958).. it's apparent that this pamphlet was released in Summer 1958, when the price was .90 for Admission at the gate. There are articles around backing up the price being .90 during the Summer of '58, which then went up to $1 Winter of '58 so this brochure marks the end of the listed .90 ticket price.

    Thanks again!
