Once upon a time, table seating restaurants at Disneyland used tip trays to present the bill. Instead of a vinyl folder, the trays were colorful and sturdy. You would pay the server and include the tip on the tray. First up is a tip tray from the Carnation Cafe on Main Street when it was sponsored by Carnation Milk.
Just up the street was the Plaza Terrace.
Around the corner was the Tahitian Terrace.
WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! I've never seen any of these!!
ReplyDeleteCool! I only have a Tahitian Terrace tip tray, but I love it. Are you aware of any others that you don't have?
ReplyDeleteFinally, you have touched my envy-bone.
ReplyDeleteSouvenirs from those days long ago, when you not only paid by cash, but you only needed to lay down a $10 to pay for dinner for a family of four.
What a great niche collection!
ReplyDeleteHadn't considered that these type of items were personalized to the restaurant back then...
What a great piece of product 'branding' that actually worked and made the experience different/special.
Thanks!
Wonderful stuff!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Who knew Disneyland had personalized tip trays for each restaurant.
ReplyDeleteAt the January 2012 NFFC (or whatever they call themselves now) show we bought a nice metal tip tray with a great drawing of the Omnibus on it. Fortunately it was very inexpensive.
