Interior of Global Van Lines Lockers

More pictures from the Main Street project dealing with Global Van Lines and the Locker Rental store. These images show the ceiling and the nice translite fixtures featuring the Global Van Lines story.

  1. Amazing! I am curious, were these taken by the same person who took so many of those great storefront photos that you posted a year or two ago?

Meanwhile, I'll bet those lockers cost 25 cents a day.

  2. Will someone please educate me? I remember the Global Van Line building that was next to Disneyland...I can still see it in my head - we're are exiting the 5 South on Harbor Blvd...

Anyway, I remember the building. I did not know they were a sponsor so where were they in the Park? You mention the locker room - would that be the same location as today's locker room? Somebody help me!

  3. Connie- take a look at the last photograph of my Saturday post. The building located across teh alley from the Fire Station with the large truck out front was the locker location. It started out being sponsored by Bekins (and a horse drawn moving van was out front.) In the mid 1960s (I believe 1965) the sponsorship changed to Global Van Lines (and a new motorized moving truck was put in front of the location.) The locker location moved sometime in the 1990s when Disneyland added onto the Emporium. Right now the location is the clothing area for the Emporium.

Major- this may be the same person as these images came from the same source.
