Two souvenirs for you today. First up is a Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship coin. The coin was given away at Grocery Stores as part of Tuna Celebration days to promote the opening of Disneyland and the Tuna Pirate Ship. Although I would think the coin would not be difficult to find, I have seen very few throughout the years.
To add color to this post, a great water based decal for the Walt Disney Studios Gem and Mineral Society. A true time capsule of the 1950s when many people became rock hounds and would drive for miles out to the desert to find unusual rocks, gems and minerals.
Very Very Cool. I love the coin! I have something else to keep my eys open for now!
ReplyDeleteThose are two fantastic items! That coin is amazing, it's the first I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteThe decal is neat too, I have one Studio decal that appears to be from the 1940's or 50's, I used to see it on the Studio bicycles and gas pumps.
I love that coin. I've got to keep my eyes open for that one, too.
ReplyDelete(The thumbnail of that pic on my "my yahoo" page only showed the top portion - it looked like Donald's hat!)
I do believe I was there when you found that coin. San Francisco? 1994-ish?
ReplyDeleteJed- yes you were there at that PMA show in San Francisco.
