It appears the family made the trip next in 1959, before the opening of the Matterhorn. First up is an image of the parking lot with the Matterhorn under construction on the right hand side.
Here is a nice view of the Old Mill on Tom Sawyer Island. Notice the Matterhorn construction on the right hand side.
And a final image of the Indian Chief on the Rainbow Caverns trails.
So cool to see the Matterhorn looming in the distance, a mere skeleton at that early stage! Awesome.
ReplyDeleteOMG these shots are FANTASTIC!!! Makes me feel like I've traveled through time!
ReplyDeleteI think "Pat" has issues, but wow does that Teepee look authentic.... I wonder if those arrows had real tips?
ReplyDeleteThe Mill shot is fantastic as is the parking lot photo!
Great post- thanks!
I love the shot in the parking lot. I have an obligatory photo of the backside of our family EVERYWHERE we go, because they will just not stop walking when you want to take a picture.
ReplyDeleteAlways love a snapshot of the parking lot. Great pics.
ReplyDeleteGiving some parking lot love. Thanks for that shot. Just amazing what memories come flooding back when I see these.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
The construction of the towering Matterhorn surely was a monumental sight to see! Can you imagine the questions the casual guest must have had as they walked closer to the entrance? What on earth was Walt building now?!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
