Many times when purchasing slide collections there are other fantastic slides. Since it is boxing day, I have decided to show off a grouping of Christmas images from the classic Americana period. This set is one family celebrating Christmas in 1961 and 1962. First up is 1961 in a room that has the Colonial Design Aesthetic. I love the knotty pine walls. First up reminds me of the line from A Christmas Story- You will shoot your eye out!
Classic 1950s era Christmas Tree.
Caught cracking nuts!
A night shot with the tree lit up.
Christmas 1962 with an aluminum tree and red ball ornaments.
A plethora of Santas.
The traditional tree with lots of presents.
Opening the presents, check out the gifts of booze!
Two Eddie Haskells attending the party.
Tomorrow back to theme parks.
Awesome time travel post! 7th pic down, Grandma look just like her dog!
ReplyDeleteThe people are great, but I sure enjoy looking at all the vintage STUFF in these photos, wow!
Looks like a decent supply of booze for gifts, better keep an eye on the Haskell twins!
You make me laugh!!
ReplyDeleteThose Haskells look like they've already sampled the gifts of booze. How else could they have any fun with that crowd?
I'm just wondering if the unseen lady taking the pictures is any more attractive or glamorous than the rest of those poor old spinsters...
I always like the old TVs in the background... once in a while you'll see one with a little round screen!
ReplyDeleteThat first photo could have been my house. The colonial rag rug, flagstone fireplace, knotty pine walls, maple cobbler's bench coffee table. The only thing significantly different is that we had those awful plastic slip covers made over the sofa.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, but this family should have done what Caroline Appleby did....thrown out everything Early American and gone with Chinese Modern!
ReplyDeleteScut Farkus. What a rotten name!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that him, sneaking up on the booze?
The ol' aluminum tree! LOL!! Awesome stuff!
ReplyDeleteOld snapshots do the time travel trick way better than old advertisements. The Oh yeah! I remember those details from another time:
ReplyDeleteLinoleum tile floors, toothpaste green walls, faded scenery for walls, the old comfy couch with beat up pillows, blonde door, and knicknacks on every flat surface, including the top of the television.
