Souvenir Friday- Disneyland Railroad Engineers Hat

The classic hickory striped engineers hat with the last patch design before the trains were sold by Walt's family to the Disney company. Simple but very effective.

  1. SO weird, early this morning I was flipping through Steve DeGaetano's book, "Welcome Aboard the Disneyland Railroad!", and he mentions (but does not show) this hat patch. I was trying to picture what it actually looked like, and here it is, about 15 minutes later!

  2. So Walt was personally incorporated? To limit liability if a kid fell off the train and onto his knoggen?

I have one of the old "Santa Fe and Disneyland RR" hats that is identical to one that Walt is seen wearing in pictures at the park's opening. When was this hat worn?

  4. This hat was worn in the 1980s. The Walt Disney family incorporated their holdings (besides the train and the monorail, they also owned the rights to the Walt Disney name (and received royalties from the Walt Disney company) as well as TV and Radio stations.) The family agreed to a buy out of the trains and the name about the same time that Eisner was running the company. I will have to double check, but I believe this was in 1991 or 1992. I am away from my reference books so I may be off with the dates.
