Some more from opening day. All the images today are of movie stars. Calista kindly identified almost everyone on the back of the photographs. Based upon the photographs, many of Hollywood's young and bright stars attended. First off is Annie Oakley, Gail Davis, from the syndicated TV series which aired in 1954 to 1956.
Next up is Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.
then one of the biggest stars at the time, Fess Parker. Noted on the back is Fess Parker at Frontierland entrance.
The last image for today is marked on the back Some movie star! Don't remember his name. Any guesses out there?
I hope you are speaking tongue in cheek!!! It is George Reeves...."Superman"
ReplyDeleteThat's right, it's Superman himself! Very cool group of photos.
ReplyDeleteWOW, these are really something special. Candid shots of George Reeves and Fess Parker, great smiles, those dudes are just too cool for words. Amazing set. Nice assortment of signs too! Thanks again for sharing a part of Disneyland's History.
ReplyDeleteGuaranteed Fess Parker is the only guy in Disneyland that day with a beard and jeans.
ReplyDeleteWow, how handsome was Fess Parker! No wonder there was mass hysteria.
ReplyDeleteExcellent pictures. I'm a sucker for those celebrities at Disneyland pictures. :)
George Reeves is looking real sharp in this photo. Nice shades too! The one and only 'Superman.'

I wonder why Mr. Reeves didn't go as Clark Kent; nobody would have recognized him in his secret identity.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a pic of him in sunglasses..That smile can belong to no one else but George..
ReplyDeleteGeorge Reeves is Superman. God broke the mold when he was made. One day we'll find out what really happened. Great pictures. Brings me back to a time when AMERICA was a great place. Best pictures I've seen.
