Main Street Vehicles Part I

Within a slide collection was this nice series of the various Main Street vehicles. It appears based upon the Alice In Wonderland sign post plaque that the images were taken in 1958. The first image is a view of the Horse Drawn Trolley passing the Carefree Corner.

The second image I may have posted before, but I still wanted to show it. The Horse Drawn fire wagon at it's hub spot by the House of the Future. The game for today is to count how many Keppy Kaps are in the photo!

The final image for today is a nice overall shot of Main Street, Town Square and a Surrey just starting its trip up Main Street.

  1. Absolute Beauties, Matterhorn. DL transportation has always been on the top of my list. Thanks.

  2. Yep, those are some wonderful pictures, bright and clear! Can you tell what the red sign (in front of the Monsanto house) is? I can't tell if the white shape on it represents the plastic house or not.

  4. Awesome! As a kid I didn't even acknowledge the Main Street Vehicles, now they are one of my favorites to photograph and ride. I wish they still ran the Surrey that's in your 3rd photo, at least they still have it on display (link).

Thanks and can't wait for part 2!

The red sign in Pic 2 is attached to the lamp post and appears to designate the stopping point for one or more of the Main Street vehicles. There is the silhouette of a horse and wagon over the sign, so the powered vehicles probably stopped on the opposite side of the Plaza loop.
