Many of the early animal figures and other scenic elements were placed in the bushes to camouflage the mechanics. However by placing them in bushes, the figures stayed in the shade and were quite difficult to photograph. The first image is of the dancing natives.
The next photo is of the towering giraffes.
The third shot is of the rhino who would charge as the boat approached. It is really hard to see, but he is in there.
Finally the large elephant who this day is still sitting in bushes.
Like many Disneyland visitors, this family snapped as many pictures as possible while on the Jungle Cruise! It's amazing how folks wanted to capture each glimpse of an animal.
ReplyDeleteIt would really be nice to see another attempt at bringing a charging rhino back to the scene.
ReplyDeleteThe amateur 16mm footage we have is quite fun to watch - but the mechanics of the operation are certainly unconvincing.
