Evening descends upon Tomorrowland 1968

As evening came to Tomorrowland at the end of a nice summer day in 1968, the photographer was moved to take a couple of images. The first is a twilight shot of the Peoplemover at the entrance to the land.

The second is later in the evening showing the great signage for the Monorail and Submarine Voyage. Check out the attraction posters in the queue to keep people occupied.

  1. These are both beautiful shots. That first one with the side of the "America the Beautiful" reflecting that sunset sky is amazing!

Look at all of the attraction posters in the second photo!

  2. The People Mover was so great. I loved the DL version over MK's which can only operate on a completely flat surface. The DL PM's ability to go up and down hills just made it incredible. It's a shame that technology isn't in use elsewhere.

  3. These are a couple of beauties. Is it just the angle or my feeble eyes, but what's with the "safety" bar on the people movers cars, they look weird, I seem to remember the bars going all the way around? Also, are the fountains turned off?

    Thanks for the neat post!

  4. VDT, More and more bars were added over the years until eventually, there were two rows that went all the way around the People Mover cars.

    These are great pics!!!!

  5. Beautiful shots! I can almost see Tomorrowland Terrace's futuristic garden rising as some pop chords begin to fill the air. Twilight in Tomorrowland was something wonderful.

  8. Great shots. Here's an interesting question for you: Would you happen to have any information / photos that would indicate the vertical tube parts of that entry fountain were originally more translucent? That is, one could see bubbles rising within them. We have run across a number of the same stories along these lines - including my own vague memory of this.
