A Family Collection

In January I visit California to see my family and the NFFC show. While visiting my family, I always hit the local swap meet. These 5 images were found in a photo album. The first three are of the son Rex and were photographed on July 20, 1963. Rex was six years old. Quite a lovely day at the park. The first image is of Rex and his Dad standing in Fantasyland.

The next image is of the Midget Autopia. I am assuming Rex is driving one of the cars.

The third image is of Rex standing next to Gideon the Cat from Pinocchio. The character design is actually very cute.

The next image is of Rex who is now 10. He is standing in front of the Fantasyland Autopia with the Mark V or Mark VI Autopia cars in the background.

And I believe this is Grandmom standing at the entrance. In the background is the new Pirates of the Caribbean attraction poster.

  1. These are great, I especially love the Autopia pictures (midget and otherwise)!

  2. I can not understand how people just giveaway or sell their family photo albums. OK, if there are no more persons in the family, but I have often seen people having moved leaving nothing behind BUT their album, and I just do not understand it...
    Great images!

  3. I agree Hans.

I ask, what happened to Rex and why is his family album being sold at a swap meet? What happened to the rest of the family?

I treasure my photo album from when I was a kid and my own kids get a great kick out of seeing their aunt and uncles and grandparents when we were all younger.

Same thing happens with military artifacts - medals and uniforms being sold off by family members with no interest in the items or teh family history.

Anyhow, I love the entrance photo with the posters.

  4. These are great pics! They look to be from 126 Instamatic Kodacolor film. Even though they don't have the detail, frame size or color quality of the Kodachrome slides, they bring back fantastic memories for so many us whose families used that type of (very inexpensive) camera in the 60's and early 70's. Wonderful stuff.

How can you say you got these in January when you already posted them in October.

  6. Thanks Anonymous. I had a feeling I had posted them before, but since my computer crashed, I did not find the images on my computer. I also thought it was January as it was with other items from a Janauary trip.
