Continuing with the selection of slides from the same photographer are these two images of Main Street. The first is an iconic view of the Horse Drawn Trolley heading up towards the castle. The image screams the 1950s in Disneyland with the clothes worn and no one walking in the street.
The second image is of a rather deserted Town Square. I wish that the Disneyland of today was as un-crowded as seen in this photograph.
Town Square always seems more like a "real" place when it's not jammed full of people...
ReplyDeleteThese just feel good. Awesome pics.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is fantastic, there really are NO people in the streets (except for the "white wing" in the distance)!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how hard it would be to pull one of those streetcars? I'd give it a shot...for a few minutes, anyway.
It was actually very easy to pull or push the steet cars when empty. The horses had it rather easy. It was just the initial start up. I remember helping behind the scenes with one.
ReplyDeleteCoxpilot, I am always fascinated by your "behind the scenes" comments about the great pictures that are posted. Thanks, and keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteAdditional comment: Thank you for the clue you gave me on the 1920's Real Photo Postcard post. Becuase of this clue I now have the answer that I have been looking for, for many years. Check my update on this post. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteIf Disneyland was always this uncrowded, it would be joining the ranks of Freedomland. Great views as always!
