Unknown Location Disneyland

I have sporadically been posting images from a large slide collection of an employee who worked at Disneyland. Some of the images are unmarked and the location is unknown. This is one of them. This may be the dining area for Casa De Fritos as the trash can has a Frontierland feel and look to it, but the chairs are not Frontierland style so this may be the Carnation Gardens. However, the floor for the Carnation Gardens is straight concrete. But then the back wall looks like Carnation Gardens.... Any ideas or clues would be helpful.

  1. I have no idea, but could it be the Hills Bros. coffee house?? You're right, that is a Frontierland trash can...from what I've seen, Casa de Fritos had colorful tables and chairs.

I recall a fast food place between the Golden Horseshoe and AJs as it was then called. The service door to the area between Frontierland and Adventureland is on the right. Sure looks like the spot, but in my time there was asphalt.

  3. Anonymous, I believe your are right. Check out this photo that I borrowed from Dave’s blog:

As you can see, back then The Stage Door Cafe was called The Oaks Tavern. BTW… Is the other fast-food facility still open? I wouldn’t know -- I rarely visit the park anymore (too painful).

  5. That's what it looks like to me as well.

I'd go and get pictures for you but that whole section to the right of the Stage Door is blocked off for renovation/upgrades.

Oaks Tavern. Yep, that rings a bell in the old memory bank. Stopped there a number of times for a lunch instead of heading off to "The Pit". I'd go backstage through those doors to eat though.

    Now I have a question!

My first instinct is to believe that the mystery item under the black (tarp?) was a small decorative fountain. But the canopy has me wondering...

Could that thing against the wall have been a [shudder] cigarette machine?

They had such things then, you know. Even on the frontier...

That item under the black tarp could be any number of vending machines - including cigarettes (yes, we were allowed to be adults back then - and make adult decisions). Best guess though, is that it's a service area of some kind for utensils, cups, napkins etc.

I think that might be the patio of the Chicken Plantation in "FrontierLand". The color of the building is the same, the furniture is the same, and the trash can is FrontierLand format. Looking at photos from all blog sites seem to confirm my theory.
