For the sign fanatics out there, here are two images showing the signage out in front of the thrilling Motorboat Cruise. I did not know that the river you navigated your boat on was the Fantasyland River and that kids under 8 had to have an adult accompany them on the ride. Just think of all the bored parents with young kids who had to run the roaring rapids! It is a good thing that the ride was only a B ticket ride!
As always, great post - especially for a signage geek like me. Thrilling? Motor Boat Cruise? Do those 2 really go together?
ReplyDeleteThe Fantasyland River, that's a new one on me! Very cool bit of info.
ReplyDeleteI also love the sign that says "Motor Boat Cruise"...somehow that kind of lettering makes me think of the 1940's (like at the Disney Studio).
'Navigate thrilling white water rapids' Wasn't thet ride tiringly dull?
ReplyDelete"No cash accepted on ride"? What in the world? Was this a normal warning on rides in the park back then? (I remember the ride, but it didn't last long after my memory of it)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous- yes that was a normal statement on the signs for the rides.
ReplyDeletei must be the only friggin person who liked this ride as a tiny kid. it took me almost the whole thing to realize it was on a track (yes, i was very little, and yes, i'm still a little slow...:-). these signs are amazing!!!!
