Unusual view of the Green (yes green!) Monorail at station in 1974. This is my favorite style of Monorails with the large viewing bubble on top of the front cars. According to Monorail enthuasists, this is a Disneyland Alweg Mark III Monorail. I believe this image was taken from the Peoplemover track as it is part of an employees collection. I like the angle and the view, just wished the photographer could have shot without the bars in front.
Wow, you don't see many pictures of the Greenie! Not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how many otherwise great slides I have that are marred by Peoplemover or Skyway bars! But I guess it adds to the "you are there" feeling.
i had no idea! a green monorail? i'll have to look through my slides for it. i thought that was just a weird lighting angle on Monorail Blue.
ReplyDeletehuh...go figure!
Thanks for the photo. You just don't see many shots of monorail green.
ReplyDeletewell, in 1969 when that one was added, metalic-avacado green was one popular car color----carpet color too! But the rarest to be photographed for sure! I really miss those white bucket seats! the MARK III's had!
ReplyDeleteThat was also when the "new" monorail station in the same picture was added --to accomadte the large "MUSCLE-MONORAILS" --aagain, Bub Gurr designed those--so they have a strong "auto-styling"-Mike(WEDWAY)
ReplyDeleteGetting to ride in the Monorail bubble was one of the coolest, most unique Disneyland experiences one could have. Too bad this too is gone.
