This last image is my favorite, the happiness on the face of a child while riding a roller coaster.

A Scenic Trip to an Amusement Park
More slides from the family that poses at Disneyland and went to POP, this time a local or small amusement park. It appears to be a park where carnival rides have been permanently installed. If anyone has any idea where, let me know. It could be California, or Arizona or somewhere in the west.

Playing detective here, let's try to figure out where this little park is. If we look at Sundays photos along with todays post we can tell the following...
The family started the day at Disneyland (longer sleeves, coats on the women). By the afternoon things are warmer and they have traveled to the little amusement park - probably within an hours drive of Disneyland (For lunch? Company picnic?). If you look at the second aerial shot, we can see on the right the colorful little roofs of the structures that are in the distance of the familys group 'gate shot' from Sundays post (the family is wearing the same clothes they had on at Disneyland, of course). The kids on the little roller coaster are wearing the same clothes, too.
Not sure where this park is, but it's relatively near Disneyland and has a feeling of the Pomona / LA County Fair area -but not quite. Would love to know!
It's a mystery, for sure. I had also noticed that the kids were wearing the same clothes as in the Disneyland pictures...hard to believe that Disneyland wasn't enough for them, and that they had to leave it for this little park! Still, great photos.
Let's try this theory: the kids, not being Joan Collins on DYNASTY, didn't wear their just clothes once and then throw them away, but actually wore their clothes more than once, and this was their favorite "Go to amusement park" outfits.
I always wear my "EuroDisney" sweatshirt when I go to Disneyland, for it's understated brag "I've been to EuroDisney." (Yes, I know it's now "Disneyland Paris" but that makes it sound like something to do with Paris Hilton, and besides, I was there in 1994, before the name change (only instituted because "EuroDisney" had become synonymous with "Fiasco".), so the shirt says "EuroDisney".

Your theory is good and makes perfect sense! Except in this case mom and grandma are wearing the same clothes, as well. Gotta play the odds. Looks like the same day to us.
This can’t be the same day even with the same clothes. If they were on vacation wearing the same clothes would not be unusual. The shadows are flat which leads me to believe it’s around noon. Some of the DL photos look like around the same time. No one goes to a kiddie land and then to DL a few hours later (or vice versa)! Man this one’s really caught my attention. I don’t think it’s Pomona. As I recall that kiddie area and Fun Zone were completely paved. Magic Mountain before the “magic”? Just kidding. Looks like there is a train that circles it and a pony ride (the ponies were taking a nap when this was shot) and I don’t remember any of that in Pomona. Too bad we can’t read what’s on those posters! These pics have to click with someone out there!
OK, how about this…Upon closer inspection I find that the clothes for the little boy and the young woman (in black) are different for the two locations. Look closely. Also the shot with the Popeye toy guitar was taken at the mystery amusement park/picnic area. Note the yellow and red awnings and long covered area – which match the shot taken from the Ferris Wheel. This is certainly a different day then the Disneyland trip. Also the picture of the little girl in the kiddie Ferris Wheel. She is wearing a party dress. The family probably went to visit a relative’s kid who was having a birthday at the mysterious amusement park. On some other day they did the Holidayland thing. And on a completely different day (the next day?) they went to DL.
I recognize that park almost immediately when I saw your pictures. This is Streamland Park which was located in The Whittier Narrows Recreation Area just inside the town Of Pico Rivera. That park operated from the early 40`s to about 1969 when it folded because it was unable to compete with other bigger amusement parks. It sure was fun to go there and they also had the original steam powered Miniature train from the Venice Miniature Railway. That was a great ride. My Thanks to you for posting them.

Another confirmation for Streamland Park. My friend grew up in Pico and he used to go there.
Yes This is Streamland Park. They Used To Also Have a Stocked Fishing Pond Right By Gallatin Rd. & Rosemead Blvd. Where 7-11 is Now. On The East side of The Park Was a Hugh Green Grass Area For Picnics. I Used to work there when I was a young boy. If You Have any pictures of the old streamland Park, Please e-mail Them to me at: limoman57@hotmail.com
Thank You, Mike Day
