Souvenir Friday= 1947 Postcard from the Walt Disney Studio

Not really a Disneyland item, but one of the coolest Disney postcards I have ever seen. This postcard features a small watercolor painting of the studio along with a witty description of working at the studio. Signed by the Pixie with a little pixie character. The postcard is addressed to a bunch of girls in Laguna Beach, his ex co-workers at an artist studio? If anyone has an idea, please let me know. Postcard is postmarked 1947 so production on Cinderella was in full swing along with the various package films.

Also check out Jordan's Perky Pickle Post on the Snow White queue for some great images and history. His blog is becoming the blog to read!

Wow, what a wonderful item! I was lucky enough to work at the studio about five years ago, and it was fun seeing that so much of it still very much resembled the way it looked in the 40's.

Of course by the time I was there, offices had been built where the old backlot had been, so no "suburban street" or Zorro backlot (instead we had the Zorro parking structure!), no picnic area or ping pong tables.

Sorry, I posted twice about finding the Perky Pickle blog. Darn Blogger getting in my way. I kept searching for Perky on the site and was not seeing it. I'm good now, thanks.

I used to work at the studio...this view is particulary interesting as this view would have been from the "baseball field" at the studio where the ROD (roy o disney) building is today. The layout of the buidings where hes pointed out animation and cutting are accurate. The pago pago was the local "studio" bar across the street from the studio East of the corner of Buena Vista St. and Alameda. (even warner bros. had their watering hole as well) Its now an unmarked Disney building that holds the travel office. (If you drove the alley to the pago, one would see all the studio work bikes parked in the alley). The stables are still there, East on Riverside about 6 housing blocks...(Im not sure that the dump was that close to studio) but, the writer must also been exadurating about the cool clean mountain air, as Im sure Burbank trapped just as much smog as LA did. Hope this helps!
