Cute Kids at Disneyland

These images are fun photographs showing the pure joy I feel when I am at Disneyland. Although not showing any thing rare or odd, these photographs show one of the reasons I collect Disneyland items....the fun and joy of being at Disneyland.

My favorite- a kid, a balloon and Disneyland.

Souvenir Friday- Early Kid's T Shirt

Every once in a while I find something in in the wild for the collection. This was a nice find. I like the graphic of the Sleeping Castle with a crowd of guests.

Frontierland in Soft Focus

The final three images from the photographer who liked soft focus all feature Frontierland. First up is the Frontierland gate.

A line of mules getting ready to take guests through the wilderness.

My favorite of this batch, Fowler's Harbor in all it's glory.

World's Fair Wednesday- Overhead Views Plus A Mystery Slide

A couple of overhead views of the New York World's Fairground. The slides are very bad, must have been on the bottom of the stack.

Last image is a mystery. The slide of the elephant was in the World's Fair slides, but I am not sure if it was taken there or at the New York Zoo. Was there elephants at the Thailand Pavilion?

The Mark Twain In Soft Focus

A big draw when the park first opened was the Mark Twain. Of course the soft focus photographer took several shots of the floating wedding cake. First up is a nice profile while passing by on the Rivers of America.

Next up a view of the Twain in dock. This photo has crop lines so maybe it was published?

A close up reveals a unique flag as in later years the flag just featured the Disneyland D and some stars.

Last view for today features the wheelhouse and guests speaking to the captain.

Things From the Gate- 1955 Advertising Brochure

Starting a series I call Hotel or Motel brochures, advertising Disneyland. I believe these brochures were sent to local motels and hotels as well as Chambers of Commerce. This one is dated 1955 and does mention the new Disneyland Hotel. The first interior page is gorgeous with a nice mosaic of attractions.

Horse Drawn In Frontierland

More images from the photographer who loved nostalgic soft focus. Today the focus is on Frontierland and the horse drawn vehicles. First up is the line for the Conestoga wagons.

A close up image shows the cast member wearing an original metal name badge.

The stage coach leaving the station.

A close in view reveals the entrance sign and also a Native American waiting for the next stage.

A single rider on the Conestoga Wagon as it cruises through a Native American village.

Various Views of Disneyland in Soft Focus

More soft focus photographs. First up is a shot of the exit with Main Street Station and a train in Station. Don't worry, we are not leaving and will visit other parts of the park.

A great view of City Hall with lots of activity.

Everyone's favorite castle is showcased. The photographer put some lines on the images and I am not sure why.....

Souvenir Friday- Vinyl Wallet

What kid could have resisted a wallet from Disneyland? The crest is an unusual one with Mickey on top and the star and castle. I believe this is circa mid 1960s and made in Hong Kong.

Disneyland in Soft Focus- Horse Drawn Trolley

More images from a photographer who shot in black and white and used a soft nostalgic focus. The images remind me of those from the rare German Black and White real photo postcards that were sold at Disneyland. First up is a head on shot of the trolley coming down Main Street.

Next up is a close shot of the riders and interior of the trolley.

This image showcases not only the trolley but also one of the early wagons. I believe this one is now on display at the Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue restaurant.

World's Fair Wednesday- More 1965 New York Views

Staying at the 1965 New York World's Fair, first up is the statue the Vine located in the gardens surrounding the Unisphere. This statue looks more like one that would have been at the 1939 World's Fair.

Next up is a view of the RCA building. The sign is extolling color television sets.

Another view of the space park.

The tail end view of the Chrysler car.

1955 Disneyland in Soft Focus- The Train

A nice collection of black and white photographs all in a soft nostalgic focus. Based upon the look of the park, I believe these were taken in 1955. First up is a shot of the train running along the Rivers of America. Notice the large electrical poles and transformers complex in front of the train.

A view of the E.P. Ripley with the mail and baggage combine car attached to the tender. In the lower left hand corner is the original news stand with several local newspapers available. I would assume the Disneyland News was also sold here.

A closer view of the Ripley on the trestle. I wonder what all the suits are looking at?

A closer view of the news stand. The stand is made out of saw horses.

Things From the Gate- 1965 Gate Map

From Disneyland Tencenniel Celebration comes the 1965 gate map brochure. A slight reworking of the previous brochures on the front. I have always liked the Tencenniel logo.

A different and more detailed map of the park on the inside.

Mister Twister and More

Elitch's Garden used to be a classic trolley amusement park. Located in a suburb of Denver, the park started out with great gardens, then evolved by adding a theater, rides, and then a classic wooden roller coaster and then a bigger wooden roller coaster known as Mister Twister. First up are three images of the neat coaster.

My parting shot is an action shot of an Octopus in action. Looks like a nice summer night with a great crowd.

World's Fair Wednesday- More New York 1965

More views of the New York World's Fair of 1965. First up is the General Foods arch with the fair motto Peace Through Understanding.

A view of my favorite area of the park, the US Royal Tire Ferris wheel and Sinclair Dinoland with Chrysler in the background. Check out the bus parking lot in the background.

A view of one of the walkways, reminds me of a science fiction city.

A view of the Taiwan Pavilion.
