Things From the Gate- 1957 Gate Map Brochure

Looking like the 1956 gate map brochures, the 1957 is slightly smaller. However the same features are found on the brochure.

Hats and Stuffed Animals

Three fun images from the 1969 New Years Party at Disneyland. I was tempted to call this Kevin and Jody the early years based upon the hats. The first two pictures are in the Mad Hatter shop in Fantasyland. In the second image, you can see some nice details of the interior decoration of the store. The captions are fun: Louie and Donie at the New Year's Party at Disneyland. Boy don't they look their age.

Donie He looks his age in this picture.

Me and all my dreamed animals at Tinker Bell's Toy shop at Disneyland.

Souvenir Friday- New Additions to the Collection

Two new additions to the collection. First up is an early press button. I like that the button is numbered, like the early name badges.

Next up is a unique event button when Rexall druggists had their convention at Disneyland. The Rexall company was having it's 60th Anniversary in 1962.

Open Wide (Disneyland in Black and White)

I am calling this group open wide based upon two photographs in this group. It appears this trip is circa 1957 with Tom Sawyer's Island open, as seen in this image of the Mark Twain from the treehouse on the island.

A "you are there" view of the Mark Twain while waiting for a raft to take us over to the island.

Another view featuring the Canoes.

Over in Fantasyland we view the marvel known as the Skyway.

Posing in the land of the future Tomorrowland.

And the reason for the title. First up is Monstro swallowing guests again.

The Hippos in the Jungle River Cruise were jealous, so one decided to get in the act and attempt to swallow guests.

World's Fair Wednesday- 1939 New York

Two nice souvenir images featuring the theme center, otherwise known as the Trylon and Perisphere. Still one of my favorite World's Fair.

April 1966 In Color

A nice selection of snapshots from April 1966. First up is the required castle shot, this time with the planter at the Hub in the foreground.

A nice shot of the native hut and outrigger across from the loading dock on the Jungle River Cruise.

A view of the Mark Twain from the top of Tom Sawyer's treehouse.

Staying on Tom Sawyer's Island, a nice shot of the Keelboat Bertha Mae with a very small crew aboard.

A quick run over to the Indian Village to visit the Buffalo.

Of course, the photographer stopped to watch the Native American's dance.

Of course the kids wanted a picture with their favorite characters, Alice in Wonderland and Goofy.

Things From the Gate- 3 Versions of the 1956 Gate Brochure

The second year gate brochure features the more recognizable Tinkerbell on the cover. The year featured change on Main Street, leading to three versions of this brochure. First up is the cover, interior pages and the fold out map. These are all the same for all three versions.

Now for the variations. The list of exhibits on Main Street change three times...I have placed the brochures in the order they were published.

A note to the Major- I am still looking for the scholastic version of the 1955 gate brochure. I know I have it....

Final Images June 1959 Trip

A small scattering across the lands from the June 1959 trip. First up is a moody image of the Sailing Ship Columbia at Frontierland Dock.

Next up is a great view of Fantasyland. Just gaze and enjoy...

The last image appears to have been taken at the end of the day...See you real soon!

Souvenir Friday- Japanese Disneyland Postcards

An unusual set of postcards printed for the Japanese market. The postcards are slightly less than Continental size and feature some unusual views. First up is the nicely designed folder to hold the postcards.

Next up is a series of character pictures with some unusual pairings of characters, and others that make sense.

The next set includes interior of attractions. I love that out of the five postcards, four are from now removed attractions. First up is Snow White's Scary Adventure.

The original Country Bear Jamboree.

The last three are from America Sings. The only other postcards which feature America Sings are from a Tomorrowland postcard album.

June 1959 Residents of the Jungle Cruise

June 1959 and a visit to the Jungle River Cruise. Many different animals were depicted living by the river. First up is a blurry shot of the family of Water Buffalo.

Next up is a bask of Crocodiles.

A dark image of the snake.

Finally a nice point of view from inside the Jungle Cruise launch of the native village.
